Full Description: We are looking for volunteers to support people who attend our Life Opportunities service in Horwich, to litter pick in their community, with all appropriate equipment provided.
Activities will include:
• Supporting and working alongside a group of people to collect litter (using a litter picker) around their community.
• Planning a suitable and appropriate route with the people we support, and staff members.
• After bags are full, depositing the waste in an appropriate local disposal container / site.
• Helping people back to the community base and to remove relevant outdoor clothing.
An interest in the environment, green spaces and contributing to environmental improvements would be as asset for this role. The volunteer(s) would need to be happy to work in outdoor spaces, and be able to stand, walk and bend, for up to two hours at a time.
We ask that volunteers offer empathy and support when working with vulnerable adults, communicate effectively and bring a calm, understanding manner to the role. By bringing your own skill set and life experiences, you will also greatly enhance the experience of those who attend our centres.
We can be flexible for a 1-2 hour position on any weekday from our base at:
Brazley Centre, Cedar Avenue, Horwich BL6 6EU
A risk assessment will be carried out for all activities and full instructions and equipment will be provided to carry out this role.
