Organisation Description: 1point is a Community Benefit Society (a co-operative business -owned and managed by its members). It provides community-based talking therapy services (including counselling for individuals and couples, grief and loss support, art therapy and psychoeducational/ therapy groups) at Silverwell House in the centre of Bolton. It also incorporates the Living Room Facility - a safe and accessible space, which provides information, advice, signposting and guidance to past, present and future users of 1point services, their friends, family, neighbours and colleagues, who require practical rather than therapeutic support.
The service has developed a range of activities to support local communities at the centre. These include its link with the international charity 'Action for Happiness', a site for Talkin' Tables and has developed the new Culture Cafe concept - providing Lunch and Learn events. These volunteer-led workshops share evidence-based ideas and materials to enable practical action to create happier homes, workplaces and communities. It also hosts other public engagement activities, providing advice and training to local organisations with the aim of providing positive wellbeing and collaboration throughout all our communities.
